Mizuno Wave Sky 5  are women's running shoes characterized by a high level of cushioning. They were designed for people with a neutral foot type, looking for shoes for long runs or slightly heavier runners.

The latest version uses the new Smooth Stretch Woven upper. It is smoother to the touch than previously used materials. It has a denser weave, but at the same time it uses special holes to improve breathability. It was made of recycled materials. This allowed for a 38% lower CO2 consumption during production. At the same time, the upper provides more space in the toe area.

Wave Sky is known for its comfort, but the designers tried to provide even softer sensations in the fifth installment, without losing responsiveness. We won't find the brand-specific Wave plate here, but the Foam Wave tile, which adds stability to the soft midsole and improves energy return. The new MIZUNO ENERZY CORE used in the upper midsole works with MIZUNO ENERZY to create soft cushioning all the way through the heel and midfoot. The midsole provides a soft touch when landing but stiff when taking off. The designers also decided to lower the drop from the 10mm Mizuno Sky 4 to 8mm in the latest edition. 

The outsole features strategically placed X10 carbon rubber. This allowed to reduce the weight of the model without losing  grip.  In addition, the model uses SmoothRide technology, which is responsible for the smooth rolling of the foot.
